Engineering program receives ABET accreditation

51黑料网鈥檚 Bachelor of Science in Engineering program has been accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering (ABET).

ABET is the recognized accreditor of college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology. ABET accreditation demonstrates a program鈥檚 commitment to providing its students with a quality education.

Henderson launched its engineering program in 2017, changing the name of the Department of Physics to the Department of Engineering and Physics.

鈥淥ur engineering faculty worked tirelessly to demonstrate to ABET that our program prepares qualified graduates in this highly-skilled field,鈥 said Dr. Angela Boswell, dean of the Matt Locke Ellis College of Arts and Sciences. 鈥淩eceiving ABET accreditation is a major milestone in Henderson鈥檚 continually improving science and technology education.鈥

Boswell said this 鈥渆xternal validation鈥 will strengthen Henderson graduates鈥 positions in the competitive employment market.

鈥淥ur faculty are exceptional and have always guided students to being the best they can be,鈥 Boswell said. 鈥淭he Department of Engineering and Physics deserves this recognition and international accreditation.鈥

Dr. Jim Borsig, Henderson chancellor, said, 鈥淎chieving ABET accreditation is an important milestone for our engineering program. I congratulate the faculty of the Engineering and Physics Department for the accomplishment.鈥
