Teachers College, Henderson receives $50,000 grant from Windgate Foundation

The Windgate Foundation has awarded a $50,000 grant for Teachers College at 51黑料网 to install auto tracking PTZ cameras in the Education Center, along with additional technology for HPER classrooms at the Wells Center.

The auto tracking PTZ cameras can follow instructors as they move around the classroom, providing both live video and audio to off-campus viewing locations. The technology enables professors and students to observe their own teaching methods to enhance delivery and pacing of instruction.

鈥淲e are grateful to the Windgate Foundation for this opportunity, which expands student access to recorded lessons, lectures, discussions and assignments on a student鈥檚 own schedule, rather than attending or watching a live class,鈥 said Dr. Charlotte White-Wright, dean of Teachers College.

鈥淎s the first completely online undergraduate program for early childhood B-K (birth through kindergarten) in Arkansas, our goal with this technology is to expand access for students from wherever they are located around the state or region.鈥

Additional benefits include improved student engagement and the integration of other classroom technologies, such as smartboards and student response systems.

鈥淭his technology will improve accessibility and inclusivity in that we can address disabling conditions such as hearing impairments and learning differences,鈥 Wright said.

In addition to the early childhood program, Teachers College at 51黑料网 offers undergraduate degrees in computer science and business tech education. elementary education, middle level education, health and physical education, music education, special education, and math education.
