Summer 2020
Consulting on the documentary Life in the Comics, which will examine how race, women's rights, family life, war, and immigration were represented in newspaper comic strips throughout the 20th century. The documentary is in pre-production and the producers are seeking a National Endowment for the Humanities grant.
CANCELLED (due to COVID-19): The 3rd Annual Comics Studies Society Conference hosted by 51黑料网 and co-chaired by Matthew J. Smith (Radford University) and Randy Duncan (HSU).
Spring 2020
CANCELLED (due to COVID-19): A talk on 鈥淭he Short, Tragic (but Creative) Life of Charlotte Salomon鈥 for the HSU Women鈥檚 History
[Mostly] CANCELLED (due to Covid-19): A series of workshops and talks for the Central Arkansas Library Association. On March 2, the 鈥淗ow (and Why) to Create a Memoir Comic Workshop鈥 was conducted at the Dee Brown Library in Little Rock. And then, everything shut down.

October 28: A 鈥淰isual Thinking in the Classroom: Enhancing Critical Reasoning鈥 talk for The HSU Teaching & Learning Center鈥
October 2: TCCS director Randy Duncan had the honor of introducing Reddie Read guest speaker Thi Bui, author of the graphic novel The Best We Could Do
September 27: A 鈥淭he Graphic Novels You Don鈥檛 Realize You Will Love鈥 talk for the Rotary Club of Arkadelphia
September 27: A 鈥淗ow to Create a Comic Book Workshop鈥 for the 5th grade classes at Goza Elementary School
September 20-22: At the Spa-Con popular culture convention in Hot Springs The Center for Comics Studies had two tables, displaying items from the Stephen R. Bissette Special Collection, and took part in two panels 鈥 moderating the 鈥淎rtists Panel鈥 and conducting the 鈥淢emoir Comics Workshop.鈥
